The standard Microsoft lifecycle policy is 10 years of support (5 for mainstream and 5 for extended support) for various Microsoft products including SQL and Windows.
That 10-year period of support has ended for two of Microsoft’s most utilized tools:
- SQL Server 2008/R2 ended on July 9, 2019
- Windows Server 2008/R2 and Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020
