Beginning with Console version 188.8.131.52, Movere will automatically update existing Consoles to the latest version (when available). This is done by the Movere.UpdateService.exe service, which removes any need to uninstall the current Console in order to manually download and install the latest version. The Update Service is downloaded during Console installation:
The Movere Update Service is a Windows service that performs a daily call to the Movere Tool API to check for the latest available version of the Movere Console. The Update Service will compare the version of the local Console version to the latest version available in the Cloud, and will automatically update the local version to the latest version if it is not currently installed. The Update Service will also perform a check via the Tool API should the machine running the Console reboot.
When updating automatically, Movere will save all Console settings in memory, including credentials and credential mappings. Any custom configuration changes made to the Movere Service, Linux XML, Bot2/Bot4 and Arc2/Arc4 config files, (such as manual changes to the PassPhrase, ServiceHostURL or ARC data collection values), will not be saved during automatic updating. Automatic updating will not impact the Magic Word.
If a scan is in progress at the time of automatic updating, (e.g. the Movere Service is running on the Console machine), the Update Service will wait for the scan to complete before performing the update. The Update Service will not stop an existing scan in order to update to the latest Console version.
IMPORTANT: The Update Service does not update the Windows inventory (Bot2/Bot4), Windows ARC (Arc2/Arc4), or Linux bots that are actively running on target machines. The Update Service will download any updated versions of the bots to the Console machine, and a new scan must be started after updating to ensure the updated bots are distributed to the target machines.
