When scanning a Windows-based vCenter, you will actually want to target the SQL server that housing the database that the vCenter points to. For this scan, you can use either Windows or SQL credentials.
If the vCenter is running on a SQL Express instance, you will need to enable TCP/IP connections within SQL, as Movere cannot scan over a named pipe (which is the default for SQL express).
On this page you can find detailed explanation how to enable TCP/IP connections within SQL Express.
To start, configure the Console to scan Windows devices:
On the Windows Devices tab, choose Specific devices to add the SQL server housing the vCenter database:
Proceed to Manage Credentials and enter appropriate credentials for scanning SQL server. If the SQL server can be accessed with a domain account, enter that account as Account Type = Windows. If using a dedicated SQL account, choose the SQL Account Type:
NOTE: Movere will not propagate domain admin account credentials to the bots for scanning SQL.
Save the credentials and proceed to Credential Mapping:
Finally, start the scan, and you should see vCenter data from SQL populated in Movere shortly!
